Morocco – Day 1

To start off Morocco was incredible. We were there for 5 days and we had beautiful weather and a great experience. We stayed in Marrakech all 4 nights but did 2 days of day trips to Essaouira, Imlil, and Setti Fatma.

We took an early flight on Monday morning so we didn’t miss out an a day. Good ‘ole Easy Jet was cheap but a little unorganized. They don’t give you assigned seats so once the gate is called everyone rushes like a herd of cattle to the gate. We were lucky enough to get seats together on the flight there but we couldn’t sit together on the flight home.

We landed in Marrakech and didn’t know what to expect. Everyone sees photos but actually seeing it in person is always different no matter what.

We stayed at Riad 34. A riad is similar to a Bed & Breakfast here in the US. There were 5 rooms and served us breakfast and were always there to answer our questions. Adil, the riad manager, was so helpful. He helped us plan out day trips and told us what to do while in Marrakech. The rooms were simple but very cute.

The first day we wandered around the Medina. We walked through the Souks. They are shops that sell EVERYTHING such as shoes, pots, bowls, jewelry, leather, scarves, etc. You name it and it was there. You bargain and bargain and usually get the price so low. We bought a necklace, 2 bowls and a tagine in the Souks.

Here are some photos from Marrakech. The main Mosque (which blarred prayers throughout the entire city 5 times a day), the Medina and snake charmers.

That was all day 1. Next post will be all about day 2. =)

  1. That room is so small and cute! Your trip sounds amazing so far, can’t wait to read about the rest. I am really jealous!

  2. I loved Marrakech! The market was so lively and the souks were amazing! I think we have the same exact picture of us posing in front of the pond at the YLS gardens :o)
