Found It!

I was never able to find a deli that made the perfect mozzarella and roasted pepper with extra vinegar sandwich outside of my hometown.  I never even found it in NY….until now.  I was walking to the tube after work and noticed a small deli.  I walked inside and knew it was going to be the most delicious sandwich ever.  This secret spot is called Camisa + Son in Soho.  The employees/owners are from Italy and speak English with an Italian accent so you know it’s going to be delicious.  For £3 I got a sandwich that lasted me two meals, lunch and dinner.  I tried to search for a website but they don’t even have one. You can read write ups about it but that’s about it.  Here are some photos as my proof:

Not only do they have delicious sandwich but they sell homemade macaroni sauce and macaroni and many other items.

Who would have thought I’d find this in London but I’m a happy camper!

Packing Sucks

As you know from the last post I’m in NYC right now. I’m home for about 25 days so that’s a lot of clothes and other things.

Somehow all of this

Fit into this silver suitcase

I brought about 25 shirts, 6 pants, 10 dresses, running gear, 4 pairs of shoes and other random things.  The blue bag is my carry-on which has my computer, 3 school books and 4 notebooks. Blah.

I’m really proud of my packing skills and how they have evolved over time.  When I was in college I went to California for a week with my family and I brought 2 huge suitcases for the week.  What an amateur. =P

I’M SO EXCITED TO GO HOME!!!!

Home Is Where The Heart Is

You hear that phrase over and over but no matter how many times you hear it it’s still true.

I’m heading home for a month and I couldn’t be more excited to see my family and friends.  My 27th (wow) birthday is on Saturday so I can celebrate it at home which makes me ecstatic to say the least.  We have lots planned including a wedding, holidays, family time, friend time and I’m even working in the NY office of my internship.

This will be the last long break to visit NY & NJ so we are going to make this one the best.  Hopefully the weather gets better because I want to just wander with my dunkin donuts coffee in hand. I can’t wait to eat sushi more than 3 times in a week, have a chopped salad for lunch, have a bagel with cream cheese and lox, dry my clothes in 30 minutes and so many other things.

I also have to study for 3 exams, write a paper and write my thesis proposal but I don’t want to be a downer right now so let’s ignore those little details of my fabulous month at home.

So cheerio London and HELLO NEW YORK!!

American TV

American TV Is amazing.  I don’t care if people say it’s trashy or wrong.  I love it.  Having been in the UK for 4 months now I’m really missing Bravo, Food Network, Cooking, ABC, NBC, TLC, and Style.  The list could go on and on and on. I haven’t even watched OWN yet!

Well we have found the answer.  I’m actually sitting in my living room in London watching Live with Regis & Kelly right now.  How you ask…..

SLINGBOX!

We set it up on a TV in NJ and we watch it though our computer.  Now you’re probably thinking “but it’s a 5 hour different so you aren’t going to stay awake until 1am just to watch primetime TV”.  Well that’s where DVR comes in.

We are happy campers now!  American TV in our London flat…GENIUS!

Rachael Ray’s on…gotta go.

To iPhone Or Not To iPhone

That is the question.

Click for source

I’m eligible for an upgrade for my US phone and when I’m home in April I might be getting an iPhone.  I’m addicted to BBM and it’s the easiest way to stay in touch with my friends back home since it’s free.  I’ve been using Whats App with some iPhone friends and it hasn’t been that bad and it’s free also. Not sure if it’s worth it since I am hardly in the States but it’s just sooooo cool!  I guess I’ll make the decision when the time comes.

Sushi Takeout

Take out & delivery are not as common here but you can do it at some places.  I took out sushi from Ukai 2 nights ago and was satisfied with my choices. I ordered edamame, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon avocado roll and 2 pieces of spicy salmon nigiri.

As you can see from the photo it’s not what I’m used to at all.  The edamame came drenched in soy sauce.  To make the rolls spicy they used a chili sauce and just layered it on top.  I like when it’s mixed in and all chopped up!  The roll size is also smaller (5 pieces and 4 pieces vs 6 pieces being standard). It was good and I would order from them again but no sushi can replace Suzu Sushi in NYC and Sushi Hana in NJ.

If I could I’d eat sushi everyday for the rest of my life but I guess I can’t start that until I move back to the States.
